Happy New Year – Time for a New Blog or Blog Renewal

Happy 20-10! One of my Facebook friends reminded me of a great quote from Mark Twain who happens to have been born 175 years ago this year, “Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.” Failed resolutions—they have a long history and seem to be part of human nature.

Two years ago I blogged about the commitment needed to keep up with a blog (see ). Despite the best intentions life catches up with some bloggers. When time and energy runs out, blogging slows to a stop.

I’ve coined the term “Stationary Marketing.” No, this isn’t when you start selling letterhead. This is the kind of marketing that screeches to a standstill. It’s what happens when blogging slogs and Tweets just twitter-out. It’s not surprising that the best new media efforts grind to a halt when we have businesses to run and lives to live.

There are only 2 reasons for a business to blog: Build Website Content and Build Reputation as an Expert. When blogging stops, so does the building.

Let’s get building in 2010. Let it be the year to renew your commitment and blog again with professional content.
