Good morning! It’s May 25, 2018 and it’s GPDR day. Twitter posts have been revealing that major newspaper websites (Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and New York Daily News) are blocked in EU countries. I checked with one of my UK contacts to confirm that these sites are down and then did a random sampling of client websites — client websites are up and running!
Despite Brexit, the UK is still part of the EU and following EU regulations. The US doesn’t even come close to being a member of the EU, but there’s been a major practice shift to comply with the new privacy regulations in practice.
One of the best Twitter comments is that “GDPR tonight is what Y2K should have been.”
Privacy and the implementation of GDPR … more posts to come.
