Will Google Like Blockquotes For Structure?

I’ve seen too many WordPress users who use quotation marks around large quotes and miss the opportunity for using a blockquote for structure.

Blockquotes Are Easy

You can use the WordPress blockquote function by selecting either the Visual tap or the Text tab. In the Visual editor, mouse over and highlight the text in your quote. Then click the quotation mark icon in the toolbar above the editor. In the Text editor, mouse over and highlight the text in your quote. Then, click the “b-quote” button in the toolbar.

I like blockquotes because they honor the written word by setting it apart from the rest of the post and with some creative coding they can look amazing with outlines (above), background colors, or a fancy font.

Does Google Like Blockquotes?

I think the best answer is going to sound a little vague, but here goes… Blockquotes are structure and Google likes structure.

“It’s a good habit to always add the source of a quotation, if any.”
